Wise Attention hosts writing on Buddhism and mindfulness by Vishvapani.
I live in Cardiff, UK, with my wife and son and most of my work as a teacher and writer is focused on Buddhism and mindfulness. I discovered meditation and Buddhism when I was 14 and became a Buddhist soon after. My Buddhist practice since 1980 has been focused on the Triratna Buddhist Order and I became a member of the Order in 1992.
In 1996 I founded Dharma Life Magazine and edited it until 2005. In 2011 I published Gautama Buddha: the Life and Teachings of the Awakened One, a biography of the Buddha. Challenging Times is an anthology of writing from Dharma Life. Since 2006 I have been the Buddhist contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day and I also broadcast regularly on BBC Radio Wales.
I work as a trainer in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR/MBCT) through Mindfulness in Action. As well as teaching mindfulness courses for the general public I work in with offenders and a variety of public sector bodies. I’m an Associate of Breathworks Mindfulness and of The Mindfulness Initiative, supporting the Mindfulness All Party Parliamentary Group in the UK parliament and advocating mindfulness to the Welsh Government.
I have a First Class BA/MA (hons) in English Literature from Cambridge University and an MA from London University.
